How To Grow Marijuana

The Medical Marijuana patient is permitted to grow marijuana in several states. Depending on rate of consumption, growing your own marijuana makes sound financial sense. Doing so also allows you to have unlimited supply of your favorite strain of weed.

Unless you own a vast estate, your best bet for growing marijuana is to grow it indoors with the use of a hydroponics system. Prices for hydroponics setups range from $300 to many thousands of dollars. The biggest differences between systems are: 1) the amount of automation; 2) one stage only versus all inclusive mother plant area, vegetation area and flowering area. The latter is more preferred since you'll have a permanent mother plant that allows you access to unlimited clones anytime. There are also a few efficient low-end systems in Stealth Hydroponics. Not having a closet is no problem at all because they have great grow tents. If you want the Rolls Royce of hydroponic gardening, check out BC Northern Lights.

Your natural tendency is going to be to grow as big of plants as you can. Note, however, that this can have a negative effect. Every plant, let it be known, requires at least 3x3 feet footprint. Going below this limit would affect the amount of lighting that gets to your plant. On the other side, trying to grow really huge marijuana plants may also result to them growing right past your lights. To ensure that you are on the right track, don't forget these: (1) during the flowering stage, your plant will grow one and one-halffeet and (2) you must start the flowering process when the plants reach to within 24" of the lights in their highest position. Depending on the strain, this can be somewhere from three weeks to eight weeks from starting with a clone.

Searching for a source for clones is the true secret to successfully grow marijuana. This shall ensure that your plant will be female and that it will survive (the most fragile stage in a plant life is the first two weeks). The good thing is that once you have a clone, you can create clones of your own and have a perpetual crop going year-round.

Similar to any other crop, marijuana needs advanced nutrients. Depending on Miracle Gro and other regular fertilizers will not do the job. It's wonderful that Stealth Hydroponics and BC Northern Lights offer a wide selection of this kind of products. If you're careful enough, following the process to the dot, then there will be no room for failure. Using tap water that's let set for approximately 10 minutes is perfect. Of course, give your plants that needed tender loving care: control the pH level, CO2, temperature and humidity. Note that in reality, Marijuana is a weed, so it will take quite a bit to kill it. Just one suggestion though, do not add the first round until 2 weeks after the vegetation stage.

A final word regarding lighting. Lighting is important. You can make use of silver halide and other high tech lights, or you can use CFL fluorescent lights. They could do the job effectively. Vegetation spectrum is in the 6000 Kelvin range while the Flower Spectrum is in the 2700 Kelvin range. Therefore, it's important to take note of both spectrums; but of course, pay more attention to the one that matches the phase where your marijuana growth is at.

Total time from clone to harvest when you grow marijuana is approximately 12 weeks. The usual yield is between 4 and 6 oz per plant.
